Tamara Williams – Medical Assistant

Name: Tamara Williams
Program: Medical Assistant Technician
Graduation Date: 11/13/2014

From an early age, Tamara knew that she wanted to help people as part of the medical field. After graduating high school at the Benedictine Academy, she still had the same desire but did not know where to start. She took on several part-time positions, struggling to find her way and direction in life. Finally she realized the only way to begin a career in health care would be to continue her education to build a future for herself and her 6-year-old daughter.

Williams decided to attend Healthcare Training Institute based on the school’s Union County location. She describes her experience as a student as both exciting and, at times, challenging. She admits that during her time at Healthcare Training Institute, some personal issues arose that distracted her from her primary goal, but she soon regrouped. With determination and the right mind-set, she completed the course, which set her on the path to filling her dreams.

After graduating, Williams received two job offers and is planning
to further her education and become a nurse.

Tamara Williams now works as a medical assistant and is providing a better future for her 6-year-old daughter. She attributes her new employment to Healthcare Training Institute’s job placement department and to her instructors, who prepared her well for her role as a medical assistant.

Wondering why she didn’t start school sooner, Williams offers encouragement to those thinking about continuing their education. For those who currently are students, her emphatic advice is, “Just keep going.”

Williams’ future goals are to continue her education and to become a nurse. “I thank Healthcare Training Institute for a wonderful learning experience and for giving me a positive direction for my future,” she said.

Williams is on her way to fulfilling her goals in life. Her determination will be an example for many, but most importantly, she has proved to her daughter that dreams do come true.
