Beatriz Rojas – Patient Care Tech

Name: Beatriz Rojas
Program: Patient Care Technician
Graduation Date: 7/15/2014

Beatriz Rojas came to America 15 years ago from Costa Rica. After obtaining US citizenship, cosmetology training and a little work experience, Rojas was a single mom with many obstacles still to overcome. She had always dreamed of working in the medical field and that’s when she found what she was looking for at Healthcare Training Institute.

“I chose Healthcare Training Institute because I had heard good things about the school and it was really great,” Rojas said. “I was nervous in the beginning because English is not my first language. But from Day One, I felt right at home.”

“My experience in school was wonderful,” Rojas said. “My teacher, Dr. Hussain, made me feel confident in my abilities and he made sure that if I did something wrong, I worked and practiced until I perfected it. Extra help was always available.”

“It’s the whole experience at HTI that prepares you for the health care workforce,” she said. “Everyone is so helpful and encouraging, especially Joy in administration.”

Rojas also is grateful to have received job placement assistance from HTI. “Vinnie was a great help and inspiration to me. She was with me every step of the way to my new job,” Rojas said.

She offers encouragement to those considering committing to health care training. “I will tell students that when it gets difficult and you feel like giving up, remind yourself that you can achieve anything in life if you put your heart to it. Motivate yourself when it gets difficult, because when you graduate, it is the greatest moment that you have ever worked for.” After her graduation from HTI, Rojas says her life has changed for the better. Graduation “has opened many opportunities in my life. I am better able to care for my boys and that’s important,” she said. “I love the job I do and even though it’s hard work, it truly feeds my heart. It is so rewarding to work with patients who are so appreciative of what I do every day.” Rojas said her future goals are “to continue to work in the health care system and do the work I truly love.”
