ultrasound tech school in nj

With the growing demand for diagnostic medical ultrasound technologists, New Jersey career-oriented students are choosing to participate in the Healthcare Training Institute’s ultrasound tech program. Located in Union County, we provide each student with comprehensive training and introduction to the many varied ultrasound technician specialties available today. Our graduates are not only prepared for an entry level position in this growing health technician field, but they also have a strong sense of desired career trajectory. As one of the more in-demand ultrasound technician schools in New Jersey, we are committed to the success of each of our graduates.

This ultrasound technician training program is designed to prepare a student with basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, ultrasound physics, basic principles of instrumentation, vascular and patient care. The objective of this program is to prepare you for entry-level positions through the acquisition of normal and abnormal images. Upon completion of the program, students can work as competent entry-level ultrasound technicians in doctors’ offices, medical imaging laboratories and hospitals.

Ultrasound technician education trains you to apply the necessary skills to assist radiologists by obtaining the sonographic image for reading at the entry level. This ability is requested and expected from the ultrasound technologist by radiologists as well as by physicians. The student will demonstrate an introductory level of knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, physics, patient care procedures, normal sonographic application of abdominal and small parts, OB/GYN, vascular case study protocol, writing, and filing in related areas upon completion.

A certificate is awarded to a student upon successful completion of all graduate requirements listed in the student catalog.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than half of all ultrasound technologists work in hospital settings. Others are employed in physician offices, diagnostic laboratories, medical laboratories, veterinary clinics, and mobile imaging units.

This area covers Anatomy and Physiology related cells, tissue, skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system, endocrine system, circulatory system, immune system, respiratory system, digestive system, urinary system, reproductive system and metabolism. Required Assignment: Each student will be assigned a project on the system.

Out-of-Class Work/Preparation: Each ultrasound student will be required to complete mandatory assignments outside of the classroom. These assignments s will include the Project Presentation, Reading Assignments, Writing Assignments, Preparation for the Final Review, Portfolio Assignments and a Research Project.

SECTION III – ULTRASOUND PHYSICS (UP 03)

This seminar introduces the participant to basic knowledge of Ultrasound Physics and knobology. It also assists the participant as to how to properly handle the artifacts and scan safely, evaluate quality assurance, and prepare for Certification. Develops a working knowledge of basic mathematical and instrumentation of Ultrasound such as the Pulse-Echo Principle, Propagation, Attenuation, Image generation, Hemodynamic, Artifact, Doppler instrumentation and Bioeffect. Seminar introduces instrumentation, static imaging and real-time principles, imaging recording devices and image storage media.

Required Assignment: Each student will be assigned a project on the machine.

SECTION IV – ABDOMINAL & SMALL PARTS (DUASP 04)

This, Abdominal Concentration, segment covers the anatomy and physiology sonographic interpretation and scan techniques of soft tissue spaces, and systems operating in Abdominal Cavity as well as Small Parts, Thyroid, Parathyroid, Neck, Breast, Scrotum, Prostate Gland. Organs of Abdominal Cavity are intensively interrogated with emphasis on the Liver and Biliary Tree, Pancreas and associated ducts, Renal and Adrenal Gland, Vascularity of Abdomen (including Aorta and branches, Inferior Vena Cava and branches, Renal branches, Portal System), Spleen, Lymphatic Nodes, and Retroperitoneal Structure.

Special attention is given to the Abdominal and Small Parts and its Vascularity to be intensively interrogated. This segment will also cover the clinical laboratory tests, clinical sign and symptoms, and pathological state of each structure and organs in the Abdominopelvic area as well as the Small Parts to be evaluated. This segment will cover the Endorectal and Endoesophageal scanning techniques with videotapes and transparencies. Pathological state is presented as video tapes, slides and matrix film. This segment will cover case studies basic scanning protocols writing presentation and record and copies.
